About HandyMan
HandyMan is a home services marketplace. On one side are people who need something fixed, hung, cleaned or assembled at home. On the other are the plumbers, electricians, cleaners and handymen who do that work for a living. We put the two in the same place and try to make the choice between them an informed one.

If you need work done
Describe the job, add photos, set a budget if you have one. Pros who are free send you offers with their price. You compare profiles, past work and reviews, pick one, and keep the conversation in the app until the job is done.
Post a requestIf you do the work
Build a profile, choose the categories you cover, and quote for the requests you actually want. You set your own rate. Joining is free, and there is no charge for seeing what is being asked for in your city.

A pro can earn a verified badge by submitting identity documents, which are checked before the badge appears. Reviews can only be left by a client who actually hired that pro through the platform, so a profile cannot be padded with reviews from friends. Accounts are protected by row-level access rules in the database, and every connection to the site is encrypted. What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy; the rules both sides agree to are in the terms.
Some trades are regulated, and no marketplace badge replaces a licence. In Dubai, anything touching a building's electrical supply, gas or structure needs an authority approval as well as trade competence. In New York City, plumbing and electrical work are licensed trades and the city enforces it. Our guides draw that line job by job, and where a job falls on the far side of it we would rather say so.
Where we work
HandyMan operates in the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Within them we are opening city by city rather than everywhere at once: all seven emirates of the UAE and twenty-three metros in the United States — thirty cities so far. One account works on the web and in the iOS and Android apps, and the cities we have opened are where pros are being signed up first. A job is checked against the address the work is at, not against where you are when you post it — so you can book something at home while travelling. Creating an account is checked differently, against where you are connecting from when we can tell, so a VPN or a trip abroad can refuse a sign-up we would otherwise take. A professional is checked against the country recorded for them, which also decides whether they show up in search. Some countries are blocked outright, Russia among them, on the website and in the apps alike — the Privacy Policy explains all three checks and what to do if a country is decided wrongly.
Where we are in this
HandyMan is early. The platform is built and live, the first pros are on it, and the city pages are us opening markets one at a time rather than a claim to already own them. We would rather say that than quote figures we have not earned. Joining now as a pro means joining a small marketplace — which also means the requests that do come in are not being fought over by a crowd.
