What is wrong with the appliance?

Choose the closest situation and describe what you can observe. Unplug the appliance before photographing it, and do not open panels or covers to prepare the request.

It will not start or stops mid-cycle

Name the appliance, brand, model and approximate age. Say what happens when you switch it on, any error code or light on the display, and whether the socket works with something else.

It leaks water

Say where the water appears and when — during filling, washing, draining or all the time — and how much. Turn off the water supply and unplug the appliance if water is near the socket.

It does not heat or cool

Describe the symptom: a fridge that is warm, a freezer that frosts up, an oven or dryer that stays cold. Say when it started and whether there are unusual noises or smells.

A new appliance needs installing

Name the appliance and model, where it will go, and what connections already exist — water, drain, power. Say whether the old appliance needs removing and disposing of.

Unplug the appliance and keep away from it if there is a burning smell, smoke, sparking or water near electrical parts. Gas cookers and gas connections belong with an approved gas contractor, and new electrical points with an electrician.

What to put in the request

The same written scope gives every pro the same job to price and makes their offers easier to compare.

  1. 1 Give the brand, model and age, and photograph the model label.
  2. 2 Describe the fault exactly and note any error code on the display.
  3. 3 Say whether the appliance is still under warranty.
  4. 4 Ask whether the offer includes a diagnosis fee, parts and a return visit.

Appliance repair pros in the UAE

Appliances still under the manufacturer's or retailer's warranty are usually repaired through the brand's service centre; a third-party repair can void that cover. In rented homes, appliances supplied with the property may be the landlord's responsibility, so check the tenancy contract first.

Questions people ask

Should I repair or replace an old appliance?

Ask the pro to diagnose first and price the repair, including parts. Compare that with the cost of a new appliance and its age; many offers credit the diagnosis fee if you go ahead with the repair.

Will a repair void my warranty?

It can. If the appliance is still under warranty, contact the brand's service centre or the retailer first. Say in the request whether the warranty has expired.

Can you fix a gas cooker?

Gas appliances and gas connections need an approved gas contractor. Describe the fault and ask before anyone works on gas parts.

What should an appliance repair offer include?

The diagnosis or call-out charge, labour, named spare parts and their cost, how long parts take to arrive, and whether a return visit is included if the first one does not fix it.
