How much does furniture assembly cost in Dubai?
Dubai’s assembly demand runs on the tenancy cycle — a flat is emptied and refilled every summer, and the wardrobe that comes apart in one apartment goes back together in another the same week.
Assembly is the most predictable thing on this list to price, because the item tells you the answer: the box has a part count, and the part count is the job. What catches people out is the second half of a move — a wardrobe has to come apart before it travels, and taking one apart properly costs about what building it did.
Describe the job, local pros send you their price. No commission on what you agree.

What moves the price in Dubai
Dubai is the reference market: nearly every published price list in the UAE is a Dubai list, which is why the ranges below are quoted the way they are. Marina, Downtown and JLT sit at the top of them — parking and lift access cost the pro time before the work starts.
Towers are the complication. Building management usually wants an NOC or a work permit for the contractor before anyone is let upstairs, some require it a day ahead, and a few hold a refundable deposit against damage to the lifts. Ask your building what it needs when you agree the job, not when the pro is at the barrier.
Who has to approve the work
DEWA — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. Anything that touches the incoming supply — the distribution board, a new circuit, meter-side work — has to be done by a DEWA-registered contractor. Replacing a socket, a switch or a light fitting on an existing circuit does not, and that is where most handyman electrical work sits.
Homes and access in Dubai
Most of Dubai rents rather than owns, and most of it lives in towers held by management companies. Tenancies turn over on an annual cycle, so the same snag list — a dripping mixer, a socket that stopped working, a wardrobe to rebuild — arrives in waves every summer.
Questions people ask
Is it cheaper to use the shop’s assembly service?
Sometimes, and it is worth checking before you book anyone: UAE retailers run periodic offers where delivery and assembly come free with the purchase. Where there is no offer, a retailer charging a percentage of the item price and an independent charging by the hour land close to each other on one item — and the independent wins the moment there are three.
Can the same visit take the old furniture apart?
Yes, and asking for it at booking rather than on the day is what keeps it cheap. Dismantling is the same skill in reverse and the pro is already there — it is the second trip that costs you, not the second task.
What about fixing it to the wall?
Tall furniture should be anchored, and a good assembler will raise it before you do. It needs the right fixing for what the wall is actually made of, which in an apartment is often not what it looks like. Mention the wall type when you book if you know it.
Do I need to keep the instructions?
Keep them, and keep the little bag of fittings with them. A pro can build most things without either, but the fittings are the part that cannot be improvised, and a missing bag turns a ninety-minute job into a trip to find replacements.
